Where does it come from?

Cyanobacteria is still fascinating and mysterious.  Who said it was only harmful and fatal?  About 2,5 billion years ago, cyanobacteria appeared on earth and produced oxygen.  This allowed the constitution of the ozone layer and life on earth.

It is not new!
Cyanobacteria has always been present in our lakes, without causing any problems or dangers.  What makes it harmful and dangerous is its concentration and not its presence.

It's not over!
Even if we know more about it, blue-green algae are back this year and affect again many water plans in the province of Quebec.

Forty one(41) water plans were affected at the beginning of July.  This result causes worries and Le Journal de Montréal reports that this number should reach a record this summer.

A novelty this summer, it is possible to consult the new Internet site of the Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux which contains a list of the water plans that are affected by cyanobacteria.  Consult the Internet site
